Moving from our legacy commercial ILS systems that we run on-site that is a typical monolith enterprise system backed by an Oracle database.

To FOLIO's microservices infrastructure using Kubernetes requires new hardware, software, and expertise that is be developed among the library's systems and operations groups.

To help in the migration to FOLIO, Stanford uses a wide range of different technologies, from office productivity like Google docs, project management tools like Miro, to workflow management with Apache Airflow.

Internal Software Engineering & Operations

A significant advantage we have Stanford is our deep and talented engineering teams for our Discover System (Searchworks), our digital repository infrastructure team, and the team responsible for migrating to FOLIO, our library systems team. Supporting these efforts is our Library's operations team that provides and manages the infrastructure for hosting FOLIO and these other services.
